Senior Financial Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis – Full-Time

DEPARTMENT: Finance

Primary Role of This Position
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for leveraging his/her exceptional analytical skills to utilize data and
available systems to support comprehensive reporting and financial analysis for key stakeholders within the
organization.

The individual will be an important part of the Financial Planning & Analysis team who will support the
company in developing an end-to-end budget, quarterly estimates, and pricing analysis. Communicating key
business insights leveraging financial analysis will be a critical component for this position to support decision
making.

Major Responsibilities
+ Work closely with the internal stakeholders to develop the company-wide annual budget and analyze for
consistency and reasonableness by explaining material variances
+ Utilize the sales budget to develop the company-wide annual gross margin and contribution margin while
pivoting data by customer, products, and distribution centres
+ Develop profitability analysis to support pricing
+ Prepare monthly sales and gross margin variance analysis with comments on the significant changes to
the executive team
+ Track, report, and present performance of cash management function through weekly cash forecasts
+ Develop and implement financial models appropriate for reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and ad hoc
analysis
+ Develop models to support allocation of overhead cost items by customers, products, and distribution
centres
+ Present store-level financial results to support all decisions
+ Support the development and coordination of reporting financial KPIs
+ Support the analysis for the balance sheet model leveraging ratios and utilizing finance team resources to
assist
+ Trend analysis and identification of risks and opportunities for future years
+ Act as subject matter expert on variable costs and assess the overall impact to the business
+ Review markets within geographic regions to support new programs and post mortems for decisions made
+ Create, manage, and maintain the templates and reporting within Adaptive Solutions for accuracy, integrity,
and completeness
+ Support any improvements to financial systems and tools with focus on efficiencies and automation
+ Other duties and projects as required

Education and Experience
+ University degree in Commerce (i.e. BBA, BComm) and/or MBA
+ Accounting designation (CPA)
+ 5–8 years of progressive experience in financial planning & analysis, preferably in a wholesale/distribution
environment

Qualifications
+ Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with other functions and senior
management
+ Experience working with a variety of reporting tools, such as Adaptive or similar cloud-based tools would
be an asset
+ Excellent skills in Microsoft products (i.e. Advanced Excel)
+ The ability to work with multiple databases to leverage and analyze big data
+ A very high interest level and/or aptitude for systems applications to facilitate analysis or improve
efficiencies and controls over data
+ A self-starter who thrives on preparing analysis to understand the business performance and is able to
communicate key insights to management and executives
+ Strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and attention to detail in all areas of work are crucial
+ Strong analytical skills with an ability to get into the details, while also seeing and understanding the big
picture
+ Excellent follow-up skills and proactively takes initiative to understand the business and needs of business
partners
